27th Annual NCCU Jazz Festival – April 17-22

Renowned jazz vocalist Eve Cornelious will accompany the NCCU Jazz Program faculty in concert with the NCCU Vocal Jazz Ensemble opening the performance at 8 p.m. Friday, April 21, in the B.N. Duke Auditorium. Also, earlier at noon in the B.N. Duke Auditorium, Eve took part in a Music clinic and lecture.

As part of the 22nd Annual Cary African-American Celebration, The Cary Theater will host A Tribute to Cash Michaels: Reflections of a Journalists Life.  The first night will focus on the role of journalism in social activism, while the second will deal with the invisible line between journalism and activism.

Art of Cool Fest – April 24-26, 2015 – Durham, NC

3 days + 2 outdoor stages + 5 indoor music venues + over 30 world-class performances = 1 EPIC music festival in Durham, NC. The mission of the concert is to “The mission of Art of Cool is to present, promote and preserve jazz-influenced music.”

A non-profit organization that strives to cross artistic, economic and social boundaries to bring together a diverse mix of people, cultures, experiences and creativity.

They want to present high-quality music concerts and events in unique venues throughout the Triangle to share their passion for music; our love of the Triangle’s vibrant arts scene; our desire to build and celebrate community; and our joy in providing each and every audience member with a GREAT NIGHT OUT.

Art of Cool was founded in Durham, NC, and is spearheaded by jazz trumpeter and educator, Albert Strong IV, and Cicely Mitchell, DrPH of Al Strong Music Productions.
